. snowmageddon in gettysburg .

A few weeks ago, I flew out to Gettysburg to visit my lovely sister Beret who is a senior at Gettysburg College.  We had all sort of fun things planned and had even scouted out locations for some amazing shoots with her and her best friends / roommates, Allie and Gülce.  I mean, we're talking dinner plans, and yoga class plans, and spending the whole weekend shooting some senior college pics....  they were even going to do some bridal glamour modeling for me!  Little did we know that about 6 hours after I arrived, the East Coast would be slammed with "snowmageddon"... which honestly made me chuckle a little bit.  I mean, yeah, there was some snow, but coming from 8,000 feet in Colorado, 2 feet of snow is nothing at all.  I've had to go to school in much worse :)We managed to shoot for about an hour  before it got brutally cold - all these shots are taken within a one block radius of Beret and Allie and Gülce's apartment.  I'm stoked to be coming back out in May for their graduation.  Thanks ladies.  You are lovely and it was wonderful to stay with you!  And a huge thanks to Hannah for her movies, Super Bowl company, and her appreciation of Flor de Caña :)

Hey hey!  I'll be back in Gettysburg graduation weekend for four or five days - so let me know if you want to do something fun while I'm out there! I can't wait to shoot out there more :)

Poor Anthony.  He was sitting on my couch, leg in a full brace from recent ACL surgery, crutches on either side, and I looked over at him and started cracking up.  "I'm so sorry," I said.  "You just look so sad and pathetic right now."Now, to be fair, I don't talk to all my clients this way.  But we had just spent the whole morning together, tooling around, shooting his senior pictures, and we hit it off so well I had already started giving him crap (the sign that I truly like you).  We took his parent's convertible up Cottonwood Pass and got a ton of awesome shots in the snow where a curious bird landed on the rearview mirror!, discussed our shared secret ambition to become CIA agents, and, then,  you know me... I totally ate it like three times on the ice.  Gracefully, of course.    When we got back I was so cold from driving through the snowy mountains that it took me the rest of the day to stop shivering, but, wow, did we have a blast.  Tony - heal quickly.  Thanks for the awesome day - you're a total cutie and I'll hang out with you any time :)

Elaina is a totally gorgeous, mellow, laid-back senior in Leadville and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting her senior portraits last week.  Check out these intense green eyes!  She is so mature and self-possessed and easy to be around.  We walked around the park a little bit, and strangely enough, encountered three or four people with metal detectors.  Buried treasure in BV?  I hope so.  I wonder if they found anything...Elaina, thank you for an amazing shoot!  From one choir girl to another - you're wonderful :)

Ellen is a girl after my own heart.  She studies abroad, she loves languages, and she suggested the Buena Vista Heritage Museum for her senior portraits.  Oh, wow... how much fun did we have.  There is cool old stuff everywhere: phone booths, typewriters, stuffed and mounted animals, football helmets, musical instruments, mannequins dressed up like marching band members... you name it.  Plus, I've always thought Ellen is one of the most beautiful people I've ever met.  The nice gentleman running the museum was a little worried for our safety and almost didn't let us up into the cupola tower, but finally relented.  Those attic stairs, to be fair, are pretty rickety.  There's a strong chance that they haven't been touched since the museum was built.  But by the end of the day, we had museum guy in the palms of our hands :)  What a fun fun shoot!  Thanks Ellen!

Mallory (BVHS senior)  a) has some damn cool shoes - polka-dotted yellow heels?  Lace-up Converse boots? Really?  and b) was sarcastic upon first meeting me, so I automatically love her.  Man, is this girl hilarious.  I had so much fun in Photoshop with this shoot - normally I don't do this much post-processing, but... it just felt right.  Yay for Mallory and all of her sweet ideas!
