scheduling & blue glass jars
Whew! What a season. Summers and falls are usually pretty busy for me, but nothing could have prepared me for this last season – it was CRAZY! For about the last four months, I’ve been working or on the road 6-7 days a week, and probably an average of 13 hours a day. Getting behind the camera has continued to be a peaceful and therapeutic thing for me, my moment of Zen in a sea of chaos – that time with my clients / new friends is precious. In order to give my clients my absolute best, and to keep myself from going totally insane, I’m going to be booking a limited number of sessions & weddings from here on out. I’ll also only be shooting one wedding per weekend in 2011.
That being said, I’m already about halfway booked for 2011 summer / fall weddings, so if you’re interested in having me shoot your wedding in 2011, let me know as soon as you can! Also, it’s never too early to schedule your senior portraits – this year I was booking 4-6 weeks in advance, so the sooner I can put you on the schedule, the better :)
On a totally unrelated sidenote, I picked up all these awesome blue glass jars at an antique shop the other day. I don’t even know what I’m going to use them for, but I think they’re super cool. What should I do with them? Send me your creative ideas and I’ll love you forever!

Hey Molly!
I have some blue jars like this that I use as hanging candle lanterns in my back yard. I strung wire around them, carabiner them to a shoestrings girth rope, and put the rope on a pulley. Lower them to light, then pulley ‘em back up. I’ll send you a pic!
Miss you!

You can use one as a pen holder, one as a business card holder, you could put lights up in your office and place the jars over the small bulbs so they would shine blue. You could kind of do a wind chime idea in front of your windows, but hang photographs you have taken from the base of them. You could put secret dreams, pick-me-ups, favorite quotes in them and open one every month. You could have your friends put little notes or small gifts in them and then you open them when you feel like you need a little extra push in the week. :) Take a picture of each one of your friends when they are not looking use photo shop and give the image to them in the jar for Christmas. Make them plant holders around your office in the summer time. Use them as props in your shoots, like for a pregnancy shoot, you could put tiny little socks and shoes in them? Or find “small” items you love like little books and old roles of film and put them around your office (like maybe to hold books together in bunches). Use one for a candy holder? If you would like some more ideas I bet I could think some up :) Thank you so much Molly for doing our beautiful wedding photos! See you around soon!
Yeah, I was going to say turn them into lanterns in your window or line ‘em up just like that and put a single flower in each. I love them!
with Christmas coming up you could put some sort of “snow” in them and then a bit of greenery or any vintage Christmas decorations you have and line them up on your mantel or centerpiece for your table
Start a fishbowl of sorts – you & Zach each put in (5-10) ideas of low cost/free date day/night(s) – take turns each week dipping into the jar – pull a new adventure each time and document the experience, make another one for nice/fancy dates/weekend trips that you indulge in once a month/quarter, and finally make a “next dream vacation jar” and whenever you’re ready to plan the next big trip – leave it up to jar to decide :) – same thang for your group of close friends …everyone throw in the next “it’s winter let’s entertain ourselves party” or let’s get out of BV for a day or 2 ;)
