zak & melissa (red rocks engagement session)
I’m so excited to shoot Zak & Melissa’s wedding next year ( she has an awesome multi-colored dress, and they’re launching the bouquet with a large catapult). I was just as excited to shoot their nerd-themed engagement session! They met in the engineering department of the School of Mines, so the nerd theme was pretty appropriate. I was stoked, and as soon as we met up for the shoot, I was even more stoked to see that Melissa had brought nerdy glasses, a bow tie, and that Zak had graphed a heart for her on her calculator :) We wandered around the Mines campus, through golden light and piles of crunchy leaves, and the headed to Red Rocks for a few less-nerdy shots. These guys are SO MUCH FUN and I’m anxiously awaiting their wedding next year!
They picked up the wrong books at first, and opened them up.
“Eew, I hate your major!” Melissa said.
“Yeah, I hate your major too,” said Zak. “Let’s switch.”
Love these color-coded books!
One of my favorites:
From nerdy to James Bond hotness in no time flat:
Zak & Lis- thank you guys so much! I had such a blast & I can’t wait for the big day! :)

I LOVELOVELOVE getting to travel for shoots – weddings, seniors, engagement sessions – and I’m so grateful to be able to look back over this last year and realize how many awesome places this job has taken me to. My most recent engagement session in Minnesota was no exception. Katie and Scott are simply wonderful. From the minute they picked me up, the three of us chattered nonstop until we reached St. Olaf College, where they met and went to school. This campus is amazing! We were even able to sneak into the anatomy lab where they had one of their first classes together. We also headed to a nearby apple orchard, which was perfectly gorgeous. Perfect light, perfect fall weather, and fresh apple donuts… what more could you ask for?
Aah! Katie! Just… aah!
I LOVE these. That’s all.
It may have been a *little * windy…
I can’t WAIT for their wedding in Colorado next summer! Not only are they fun, kind, and amazingly photogenic, they were wonderful enough to mail my phone back to me when I accidentally left it in the backseat of their car :/
Katie & Scott – thanks so much for an amazing shoot! Love you guys!

Molly, you know what a worrier Katie is… Well maybe you don’t, but she is! She really wanted these engagement pictures to be special. Let me just say that Katie now knows she does not need to worry about her photographer!!! You captured the essence of Katie and Scott so well – fun, yet loving and caring with a serious commitment to each other. The pictures are truly amazing. Thank you SO much for being willing to come to Minnesota to be surrounded by the environment that was their life together at college. I can’t wait to see the whole package and I look forward to June 30th! Thanks again, Joy

Rachel and I have been talking and making plans for months, and I was so glad to finally meet her, Daniel, and their sweet son when we all got together for their engagement session. Roy at St. Vrain Winery in Berthoud was kind enough to let us wander his property and, with thanks to Jessica from A Vintage Affair and this gorgeous light I thought only existed in Southern California, this session went off flawlessly. To make it even sweeter, Roy treated us to a wine tasting in his barn after the session! Sounds like the perfect evening to me :)
Right about now, their son said, “Mom, I think the dragonflies are all getting sick of watching you kissing!”
Check out this lovely vintage vineyard picnic, styled by A Vintage Affair:
Rachel, you are stunning!
Rachel & Daniel – you guys are great! Thank you! I can’t wait for next summer’s wedding :)

carolyn & dan (aspen engagement photographer)
Carolyn & Dan forgave me for being super late to their engagement session when I called and explained that I was stuck on the highway behind an accident that involved a semi that had CAUGHT ON FIRE. In hindsight I’m actually kind of glad that it worked out the way it did, because when I finally got to their adorable Aspen home, the light was simply perfect. After our shoot at their home and at Maroon Bells (literally just down the road!) we went out to dinner and ended up having one of the deepest conversations I’ve ever had with clients about Life, the Universe, and Everything, and I loved every minute.
Dan & Carolyn, you guys are SO WONDERFUL and I can’t wait for your Aspen wedding – that meadow is going to be so stunning!

I had tears in my eyes as I looked at every picture. Some how you were able to put the depth of love onto film and it is amazing. Molly, what you did was everything I could possibly dream about and so much more. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

katie & brad’s washington dc engagement session
Last week, I flew out to DC for Katie and Brad’s engagement session, and we timed it perfectly to coincide with the National Cherry Blossom Festival! I had never been to DC before, and this was definitely the perfect time to be out there – especially because we don’t get much of a spring in BV. Katie & Brad were kind enough to drive me in circles all around town and we had so much fun getting to know each other while doing an epic & super speedy photographic tour of the city. These guys are so laid-back and fun to be around, and I’m really looking forward to their cozy destination wedding (for them :) at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort. Katie & Brad- it was so wonderful to finally get a chance to meet you! Thanks again for everything!
The National Cathedral was so stunning – maybe one of my new avorite places ever – and I never even knew it existed :/
The gardens there are AMAZING!
As is the architecture:
Model face!
Then on to some fun at Union Station…
Then towards the monuments for some fun, dramatically-lit shots. I love the mood of these.
What a fun session – destination engagement sessions are one of my favorite things ever!
